About the 2015 eCommerce Awards

There will be no South African eCommerce Awards in 2016.

The eCommerce Awards have been put on hold for 2016 as we focus on building ecommerce tools to make eCommerce in South Africa even better. Watch out for the South African eCommerce Awards again in 2017.

The Annual South African eCommerce Awards have been designed to recognise and reward those South African websites that have demonstrated excellence in their use of the Internet as a platform for eCommerce. The awards are now in its tenth year.

The Awards are open to South African based eCommerce companies only. That is, any South African based company that facilitates the buying or selling of products via the internet including the ordering and electronic payment thereof.

The eCommerce Awards are open to websites that facilitate the ordering and electronic payment of goods or services, including but not limited to ticketing and online bookings.

South African eCommerce websites are encouraged to promote the voting process to their customers by directing them to the Vote & Win page on the Awards website.

In 2015, the awards will ran as follows;

The public were encouraged to vote for their favourite South African online shop by filling in a short questionnaire on the Vote & Win page on the Awards website. The public’s participation was incentivised with the opportunity to win R10 000.

The website with the most public votes won the Award for South Africa’s Favourite eCommerce Website.

South African eCommerce websites were encouraged to promote the voting process to their customers by directing them to the Vote & Win page on the Awards website. Voting banners were available to assist websites with the voting process.

South African eCommerce websites that wished to compete in the 2015 Awards had to complete an online entry form. Websites that did not complete the entry form were considered for any of the categories excluding South Africa’s Favourite eCommerce Website. Public voting did not guarantee entry into the 2015 South African eCommerce Awards.

From all the 2015 entries a shortlist was decided on. These sites underwent evaluations conducted by uAfrica.com to determine the winners and runners up. The shortlist was be announced in July 2015 and the winners and runners up were announced at the Gala Awards Dinner on Wednesday 16 September 2015 in Johannesburg.
